Productivity
Labour hours per unit of work. The single most important number in any concrete or earthworks proposal.
Productivity is the rate at which a crew can produce a unit of work, expressed in labour hours per unit.
0.05 manhours per SF of slab on grade 1.2 manhours per LF of stem wall 8.0 manhours per pier (drilled, 24" Ø, 18' deep)
Multiply your takeoff quantity by the productivity to get total labour hours. Multiply labour hours by your blended labour rate to get labour cost.
Productivity is the variable that separates estimators who know their crew from those who don't. Industry tables (RSMeans, Walker's) give you a defensible starting point. Your crew's actual numbers are what should drive the proposal.
