AI takeoff has gone from demo-only to genuinely useful in about 24 months. But the marketing has run way ahead of what the tech actually does well. After watching hundreds of real bids run through Bedrock's AI-assisted tools, here's the honest scorecard for 2026.
1. Count-style takeoffs. Piers, columns, light fixtures, parking stalls, trees, manholes. Modern vision models hit 92–98% precision on symbol counting once you've shown them one example sheet. A pier count that used to take 25 minutes now takes 90 seconds plus a verification pass.
